About Mark

Before starting MC Strength & Fitness, LLC Mark spent had the past few years serving as the Sports Performance Director for Fit Revolution, North Reading, MA & The Thoreau Club, Concord, MA. While at those locations he trained a variety of athletes from youth sports to top collegiate athletes. For the previous14 years Mark worked for CATZ Sports Performance Training (Pasadena, CA), where he has held such roles as National Director of Coaching, Education and Sports Performance. In addition, for 6 years during his tenure he served as the head sports performance coach for the both the Boston Cannons (MLL) and the Boston Breakers (NWSL). For the previous14 years Mark worked for CATZ Sports Performance Training (Pasadena, CA), where he has held such roles as National Director of Coaching, Education and Sports Performance. Mark began his career with the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League. Following his stint with the Falcons, Mark was hired by the Pittsburgh Pirates organization to work as the head strength coach for one of their minor league affiliates (Hickory Crawdads). He subsequently accepted a position as the Minor League Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for the San Diego Padres. In this role, Mark managed the strength and conditioning program for all six minor league affiliates within the Padres organization. Mark has coached athletes from NFL, MLB, MLS, NBA, MLL, NWSL, and US Women’s Pro Tennis. He has worked with players on the US Men’s and Women’s National Soccer Teams and has had numerous athletes who have won Gold Medals in the past two Summer Olympics. Currently, Mark is on the Board of Advisors for the Sports Science Department at Lasell College (Newton, MA). He also serves on the Board of Advisors for New England Sports Partners, Antonelli Baseball and Four Pillar Performance; baseball specific organizations. His expertise is in athletic sports performance enhancement and injury prevention management. Currently he is an Adjunct and Visiting Professor for both Endicott College and Northeastern University. Where he prepares students on physiological factors of group behavior, strength and conditioning, leadership, first aid and injury prevention. Mark was also an academic Instructor at the National Personal Trainer Institute (NPTI), Waltham Ma. Where he prepared academic topics related to personal training as a profession. Topics include, sports performance, injury prevention, nutrition, business and are based on NSCA, NASM and ACSM guidelines. Mark is also a regular contributor for The BostonHerald.com as the blogger “Mr. Fit”. Mark received his BS in Athletic Training from Salem State College and MS in Sports Medicine and Injury Prevention and Management from Springfield College. He is a licensed/certified Athletic Trainer and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, as well as a Certified Nutrition Manager. Assisted individual athletes from both MLL and NWSL in preparation for national team duty from USA, England, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil; oversee training of numerous Olympic, World Cup and World Championship bound athletes. Continued improvements in overall team athleticism and strength contributed to 2011 Major League Lacrosse championship for the Boston Cannons and deep playoff runs of the Boston Breakers. Implemented team testing and evaluation (speed, agility, and sports specific conditioning). Excelled as an Athletic Trainer and Strength & Conditioning Coach for the past 15 years, working under the direction of physicians, physical therapists, chiropractors and coaches to manage the overall injury and well being of athletes, encompassing tasks such as rehab plan design and development, hydrotherapy, and strength and conditioning programs. Planned, implemented, and evaluated dynamic programs to incorporate various exercise modalities to drive patient involvement in injury treatment; analyze results to identify areas for improvement and ensure goal achievement.
